What is Snipping Tool
Snipping Tool is a screenshot utility included in Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Vista. It can take screenshot of an window, the entire screen, rectangular areas, or free-form areas.
- Free-form Snip. Draw any shape with your mouse and take a screenshot
- Rectangular Snip. Draw a rectangle with your mouse
- Window Snip. Open a window and click it to take a screenshot
- Full-screen Snip. Take a screenshot of the entire screen

How to Open Snipping Tool
Press Windows + R, type snippingtool and Press Enter
For Windows 10
Type snipping tool into the search box next to the Start Menu, and press Enter
Or you can find this tool in Start > All Programs > Windows Accessories > Snipping Tool.
For Windows 7 / Vista
Click start button and type snipping tool into the search box, press Enter or click it.
For Windows 8.1
Enter snipping tool in Start Menu search box.
How to Use Snipping Tool
Open Snipping Tool, click Mode, select the kind of snip you want, click New and select the area of your screen that you want to capture.
Press Esc key if you want to cancel ,or click Cancel.
Press Ctrl+S or click save icon to save the screenshot.
Delay: in Windows 10, you can take a delayed screenshot (0-5 seconds ), after you click New to take a screenshot, you have seconds to do things.
For example, take a screenshot of Start Menu.
Annotate a snip: After you capture a snip, you can edit it by Pen or Highlighter. Select Eraser to remove the lines you’ve drawn.
